Half way through the school term and I’m already wanting holidays! It makes me think if my last OS holiday to Samoa! 2 weeks of pure bliss, sun, relaxation and culture. I need to set my sites on my next destination. Ah, Samoa I miss you!

MJ gives me so much joy every single day. He loves me no matter what mood I’m in, is excited to see me when i get home, and most of all he gives me the companionship I need without the drama of a relationship!

Understanding

SO, lately i have been doing some research on Crohns disease as over the last weekend, i had another flare up.

So what is it exactly?

Crohn’s disease causes inflammation of the full thickness of the bowel wall and may involve any part of the digestive tract from the mouth to the anus (back passage). Most frequently the ileum, which is the lower part of the small bowel (ileitis), the large bowel (colitis) or both (ileo-colitis) are involved.

I had surgery in April on my large intestine, which is less common than on the small intestine. Usually, crohns sufferers tend to have infections in their small intestine. On the weekend i was submitted to hospital for cramps that were occuring, which were similar but different to what i have had before which raised alarm bells in my head immediately.

Other crohn sufferers know that toilet habits, are a constant topic of conversation. Majority of sufferers also loose weight rapidly, where i was loosing weight but now have stopped since surgery. So after visiting the hospital, i was told that i need to have another ultra sound as there maybe some swelling in my small intestine. So where to from now????

Treatment of Crohn’s Disease

The drugs used to treat Crohn’s disease are more commonly used to help control the inflammation and as maintenance therapy. Active Crohn’s disease is generally treated with steroid tablets (usually prednisolone).
Sometimes, antibiotics are also used.

Where drug therapy is ineffective, an infusion into the vein of infliximab (Remicade), (an antibody that mops up an important protein made by the body during inflammation), may be used.

However, some people do require surgery if drug treatment is ineffective, or if Crohn’s disease causes a blockage or leak in the bowel. Surgery may also be necessary for people with Crohn’s disease of the anus that which is not responding to tablets.

I really need to sit down and sort out what is working for my body, and what is not. What foods are sitting well, and what foods are not.

Its critical i give my body every chance to function properly, and so be it if it means not being able to eat or drink certain things. I need to be strong, and believe that i can do this, and my body can get through this.

Day after bootcamp

Wow, I have not been this sore in over a year i think. Now you know you worked hard when you get up to go to the toliet, and you cant sit down. Like the pain of torture, not stinging, but throbbing. We have all been there and all felt it. But there is no way to get rid of it.
I have tried to walk it out, stretch, hot and cold showers and basically keep moving, but alas, none of that has worked. Instead i find myself stuck on the couch.

I sent my trainer a msg this morning letting him know i couldnt walk! His response “Welcome back! See you next week”!

I think i will spend the rest of this week, preparing my food for the first couple of weeks back at work, freezing and measuring my portions. I will probably do some light work outs as well, KB and some lifts and some slow stuff on the C2!

Warrior challenge bootcamp

Wow! That was my first intense WOD since my crohns surgery in April. It was on the beach so it was super duper cold. We did 4 circuits and each circuit went for 6 minutes. The rounds included:
Tire hauling in the sand
Dead lifts
KBS
Push press
Rope pulls
Bulgarian Training Bag round the worlds
Did I mention this was all on the sand!!!!
I can quite happily say I’m actually exhausted. I took MJ for a walk when I got home cos I could tell my quad was starting to tighten. Here are some pics from today.

So we are training for the warrior challenge event which is held in September. I will write more when I have the energy. It’s good to get the first one out of the way!

Warrior Challenge

So tomorrow begins my journey of The warrior Challenge. My old crossfit trainer has started up a new bootcamp/challenge which looks and sounds super challenging and fun. You can check out the website here: www.warriorchallenge.com.au

But it basically incorporates alot of crossfit style work outs into an outdoor /bush setting. Like going through mud, swinging on ropes, running on muddy tracks!All things that sound soooo much fun!
This will be my first real work out since my surgery, so i am really really looking forward to it!

Anyway, im super pumped, a little nervous but none the less excited to get back into it, and catch up with my old trainer Al again!

Winter really is here

So trust it to be school holidays when the weather really turns it’s charm on! I believe that if it’s this cold and wet then we deserve snow! I mean, it’s windy, raining, and dark. MJ does not want to go outside, I don’t want to go outside. Why us it when you have all the tome in the world to go out and do things the weather gods really turn it on!

See how bored MJ is? That’s his favorite spot to sit and watch the day go by.
Anyway, tonight I might pull the rower out and do a work out whilst watching some tv!

Well, well, well. Long time no write to. Definitely been a while between drinks but I have been flat out with work, moving home and getting a new puppy. So I will leave you with some pictures until I have time to write properly.

Last night at the animal emergency we had to let Bella go. Here is a picture of the last time I saw her at the hospital.

Mum will really miss her as will I. Saying goodbye to a pet is one off the hardest things to do… RIP little Bella.
